Genspark Alternatives: Pick by the Job You Used It For
September 29, 2026

Genspark is an all-in-one AI workspace. That's why people pick it, and why there's no single "best" Genspark alternative. Most people lean on one or two parts of it and ignore the rest.
Here's what the product covers as of September 2026. Genspark, made by MainFunc, calls the current release AI Workspace 6.0. The home screen lists a Super Agent, an Office Suite (AI Slides, AI Sheets, AI Docs, GenMail), plugins for Google Workspace and Microsoft 365, a Build Suite for prototypes, code and dashboards, plus image, video, music and chat tools. Usage across the agents is billed in credits.
So the useful question isn't "what replaces Genspark?" It's "what was I using it for?" The apps like Genspark that fit you best are the ones built for that job.
- An agent that does multi-step work → Manus or ChatGPT Work.
- Slides and decks → Gamma, or the AI already inside PowerPoint or Google Slides.
- Research with citations → Perplexity or Gemini Deep Research.
- Spreadsheets and documents → Claude, ChatGPT Work, or Copilot in Excel and Word.
If you're only weighing Genspark against Manus, our Manus vs Genspark comparison goes deeper than this post will.
Genspark alternatives: quick comparison
| Tool | Best at | Output you get | Billing shape |
|---|---|---|---|
| Genspark (baseline) | Many jobs in one workspace | Slides, sheets, docs, sites, media | Credits |
| Manus | Open-ended multi-step tasks | Finished files, sites, reusable Skills | Credits, by task complexity |
| ChatGPT Work | Deliverables inside ChatGPT | Docs, sheets, decks, native Google files | ChatGPT subscription |
| Gamma | Visual decks and one-pagers | Decks, docs, sites; PPT, PDF, Google Slides export | Its own plans |
| Microsoft 365 Copilot | Decks and sheets in Office | Native PowerPoint, Excel, Word files | Microsoft 365 licence |
| Gemini | Deep research and Google Slides decks | Cited reports, editable Slides | Google Workspace or Google AI plan |
| Perplexity | Fast answers with sources | Cited answers and reports | Its own plans |
| Claude | Spreadsheets and documents from chat | Excel, Word, PowerPoint, PDF files | Claude plans |
If you used Genspark as an agent
Genspark's Super Agent breaks a request into steps, picks tools and carries the work to a finished result. The newer version runs in a dedicated sandbox with a real browser and its own filesystem, and you can save any workflow as a reusable skill.
Two Genspark competitors have the same shape.
Manus is the closest match. You hand it a task, it plans, browses, runs code and delivers files. Manus bills in credits based on LLM tokens, virtual machine time and third-party APIs, so a longer, more complex task costs more. It also packages finished workflows as Agent Skills. Our Manus alternatives guide covers where it's weakest.
ChatGPT Work is the option if you already pay for ChatGPT. One thing has changed recently: OpenAI now points longer, multi-step work and finished deliverables to ChatGPT Work, which launched on July 9, 2026. Agent mode had itself absorbed Operator, which shut down in 2025, so any guide that recommends Operator is out of date.
| Genspark Super Agent | Manus | ChatGPT Work | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Runs in a sandbox with a browser | Yes | Yes | Cloud browser is a separate feature |
| Save a workflow to reuse | Yes, as a skill | Yes, as an Agent Skill | Yes, as a template |
| Main output | Files, decks, sheets, sites | Files, sites, reports | Docs, sheets, decks |
Where Genspark is stronger: the agent and the office apps share one workspace. A research task can flow straight into AI Slides without exporting anything.
If you used Genspark for slides
Genspark's AI Slides builds a deck live on a canvas next to the chat, can follow your template, runs code for charts, and exports to PDF, PPTX or Google Slides.
Gamma is the dedicated option. It generates presentations, documents, websites and social posts from a prompt or an outline, with themes or your own brand, and exports to PPT, PDF, PNG or Google Slides. If decks are the only reason you opened Genspark, start there. Our Gamma alternatives post compares the other deck makers.
The other route is to stay inside the presentation app you already use.
- Copilot in PowerPoint. Agent Mode in PowerPoint drafts a new presentation from a prompt. It may ask about your audience and style first, then builds an outline and the slides. As of September 2026, Microsoft says file references in Agent Mode are "coming soon", and Copilot only appears if your Microsoft 365 subscription includes it.
- Gemini in Google Slides. Gemini can generate a full, editable presentation from the side panel. It can use Drive files as sources and match the style of an existing deck. It needs an eligible Google Workspace or Google AI plan, and it's currently desktop-only and English-only.
| Genspark AI Slides | Gamma | Copilot in PowerPoint | Gemini in Slides | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Where the deck lives | Genspark, then export | Gamma, then export | A native PowerPoint file | A native Google Slides file |
| Match an existing deck or brand | Yes | Yes, import your brand | Organisation branding via Brand Kit | Yes, "match presentation style" |
| Build from your own files | Yes (PDF, Word, Excel, PPT) | Yes, import content | Coming soon in Agent Mode | Yes, from Drive |
The honest trade-off: Genspark and Gamma usually give you a more designed first draft. The native options give you a file your team can edit right away, with no export step and no second subscription.
If you used Genspark for research
Research is built into Genspark's agents. If cited research is your main job, two tools are more focused.
Perplexity is an answer engine. It searches the live web, writes a response and cites the pages it used. Its Sonar Deep Research model handles longer, multi-step research. Use it when you want a sourced answer in seconds rather than a formatted deliverable.
Gemini Deep Research is the slower, deeper option. It searches many websites and, if you allow it, your Gmail, Drive and Chat. After a few minutes it returns a multi-page report, and it can also give you an audio overview of the findings.
| Perplexity | Gemini Deep Research | |
|---|---|---|
| Speed | Quick answers | Minutes per report |
| Output | Answer with inline sources | Multi-page report, plus audio overview |
| Best for | Quick checks, current events | Market scans, literature reviews |
For a head-to-head of those two, see Perplexity vs Gemini.
Where Genspark is stronger: it turns research into a deliverable in the same place. Perplexity and Gemini give you the findings. You still build the deck or the sheet somewhere else.
If you used Genspark for spreadsheets and documents
Genspark's AI Sheets collects data from the web and from specialised sources such as SEC filings and Yahoo Finance. It then cleans and analyses the data, writes Excel formulas and exports to .xlsx. AI Docs handles written documents in the same workspace.
Claude creates Excel spreadsheets, Word documents, PowerPoint presentations and PDFs straight from chat. It writes and runs code to build them, so you can ask for a financial model with working formulas, or upload data and get a report with charts. According to Anthropic's help center, this is available on every Claude plan, Free included.
ChatGPT Work creates and edits documents, spreadsheets and presentations. It can work on native Google Docs, Sheets and Slides when you connect Google Workspace. On desktop it supports Excel through the ChatGPT for Excel add-in. You can also save a format you repeat, like a weekly report, as a template.
Copilot in Excel and Word is the default if your company already runs on Microsoft 365. The output is a native file in the tool your team already uses.
| Genspark AI Sheets | Claude | ChatGPT Work | Copilot in Excel | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Pulls in outside data | Web plus financial and academic sources | Uploads, plus network access if enabled | Attached files, connected Google apps | The workbook you're in |
| Output | Sheet in Genspark, .xlsx export | .xlsx, .docx, .pptx, PDF | Office files or native Google files | Native Excel file |
Where Genspark is stronger: data collection. Asking it to "compile five years of a public company's financials" pulls from SEC filings in one prompt. With the others, you often gather the data first and then ask for the analysis.
If you want to keep the workflow, not rebuild it
Every tool above does the same thing when you start: you write the brief. Your prompt, your template, your steps. Genspark skills, Manus Agent Skills and ChatGPT templates help you repeat your own work. But they still start from a brief you wrote.
Sometimes the useful setup already exists. Someone has built a research-to-deck workflow or a spreadsheet cleanup app that works. Your problem is running it, not describing it from scratch.
That's the shape of Taku. It's an AI-native desktop workspace where you mirror an AI app, skill or workflow someone already got working. You run it, remix it for your own files, and keep it for next week. It doesn't replace an agent like Genspark or Manus for open-ended tasks, and AI slides, sheets and docs are planned for Taku rather than live. Taku is in Beta, and the Mac app is available now. The free app library shows what mirroring looks like.
Picking
- You want one tool for everything and like the credit model? → Stay with Genspark. No single alternative covers as much.
- You mostly handed off multi-step tasks? → Manus, or ChatGPT Work if you already pay for ChatGPT.
- You mostly made decks? → Gamma for design, Copilot or Gemini to stay in your current office suite.
- You mostly did research? → Perplexity for quick sourced answers, Gemini Deep Research for long reports.
- You mostly built spreadsheets and documents? → Claude or ChatGPT Work, or Copilot if you're on Microsoft 365.
- A setup that does the job already exists? → Mirror it in Taku rather than prompting it from scratch.
FAQ
What is the closest Genspark alternative?
Manus. Both are general agents that plan, browse, run code in a sandbox and deliver finished files, and both let you save a workflow to reuse. Genspark bundles more office apps into the same workspace.
Is there a free Genspark alternative?
Several have free access with limits. Claude's file creation, for example, is on every Claude plan including Free, according to Anthropic's help center. Check each vendor's own pricing page, because limits change often.
Is ChatGPT Work a replacement for Genspark?
For multi-step tasks and finished deliverables, it's the closest option inside ChatGPT. OpenAI launched ChatGPT Work on July 9, 2026 and now points longer, multi-step work there.
Which alternative is best for AI slides?
Gamma, if design quality matters most. Copilot in PowerPoint or Gemini in Google Slides if you want a native file your team can edit straight away.
How does Genspark charge compared with the alternatives?
Genspark and Manus both use credits, and a longer or more complex task uses more of them. Microsoft, Google, OpenAI and Anthropic mostly bundle their features into subscriptions or licences you may already pay for.
Is Genspark good for research?
Yes, especially when research needs to turn into a deck or a sheet. For research alone, Perplexity is faster, and Gemini Deep Research produces longer reports.
